WELCOME to
SouthSide Church of Christ

We want to take a moment to extend a very warm welcome to everyone who’s visiting Southside church of Christ website. Whether you’re just having a look, or are searching out for a place to worship, we’re delighted to have you here with visit the website.

To give you some idea of what we’re all about:

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God by which we will one day be judged. The Bible must be our authority for that which we teach and practice. Christ is the only Head of the church (Colossians 1:18).

Our goal is to speak where the Bible speaks and to be silent where the Bible is silent. (Rev. 22:18-19) Once the truth is taught, those who respond to the gospel, and are Baptized into Christ, become a part of the Body of Christ which is His Church.

Sunday Bible Study 10 AM | Sunday Worship 11 AM

Our vision is to submit to the will of God… Jam 4:7. “Submitting one to another in the fear of God” Eph 5:7. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, Ps 111:10.

So firstly, we’re all about Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus was who he said he was, the Son of God who came and died for our sins. Paul said “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Phil 2:5-12.

So if you are looking for a place to worship, we hope that you will come and worship with us and get to know us as we study the bible. He’s truly what life is all about for us! The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honor is humility, Prov 15:33.

Secondly, we’re all about people. Every person who walks through our doors is important to us, “What is man, that thou art mindful of him?” Ps 8:4. So we never want you to feel like you are just a number. “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up,” Jam 4:10.

Thirdly, we’re all about relationships. We hope to cultivate and grow meaningful and positive relationships in this life that will continue in the next.

Lastly, we at the Southside Church of Christ want to ever be grateful for the goodness of God and not for just the goods that he has blessed us with. We want our worship to be free from the traditions and theatrics, and to be a simple honor and reverence to the God we love and a thankfulness for the mercy that has been shown towards us.

WHAT WE BELIEVE and the BIBLE teaches

Men who meet the qualifications set forth in I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9 are to be appointed as elders (also called shepherds or bishops) to oversee the local congregation.

Serving under the elders are deacons (I Timothy 3:8-13), preachers (Romans 10:14) and all other members (Hebrews 13:17). God wants every person to be saved.

For that to happen, each accountable person must:

  • PLAN OF SALVATION
  • Hear the Word (Romans 10:17)
  • Believe that Jesus is God’s son (John 8:24)
  • Confess our faith in Christ as God’s Son (Acts 8:37; Romans 10:10).
  • Repent of past sins (Luke 13:3)
  • Be baptized for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38). When we obey the Lord in baptism, we are then added to the saved (church) as stated in Acts 2:47.
  • We must then diligently strive to live a faithful Christian life (I Peter 2:21 -22)
